Wizz released only one form of anything. No demos, no EPs, no live albums. Just Crazy Games. That can contribute to why the band wasn’t successful at all. Demos are a cheap way to discover a band. Sure, a band can have a million demos and still be obscure, but they’ll have a better chance of becoming well-known than anyone else. Also, Wizz was formed in 1976 and waited eight years just to release an album. They could’ve released a demo or twenty within those eight years. Not to mention, the songs on this album don’t sound like they’d take eight years to compose. I guess they were just slacking.
The first track, “Smash,” is a very good song. The guitar sounds good and the vocals are well-executed. The track is followed by “Wonderland,” another song that delivers great guitar riffs and melodic vocals. And, like they started strong, they finished strong. “Movin’ On” has the best guitar work on the album. The lyrics are good and are executed very well.
Throughout the album there are great guitar riffs in songs like “Upside Down,” “Movin’ On,” and “Smash.” Not only is the guitar great, but the vocals are as well. In “Wonderland” and “Not Too Old To Rock N Roll” the lyrics are sang beautifully – especially the choruses.
However, the greatness is almost forgotten as “Crazy Games” takes a giant bum fudge all over what was once potential. It sounds good after the quiet intro, but the rest doesn’t sound good. The vocals are poorly executed, the chorus isn’t good at all, and, besides the solo, the guitar is unoriginal and boring.
